Nordic Walking

Prefer to be exercising outdoors (whatever the weather), then why not try Nordic Walking.

What is Nordic Walking?

Nordic Waking is an enhancement of natural walking that applies specially designed Nordic Poles to achieve a full body workout resulting in unbelievable results. Unlike when trekking or rambling, Nordic Walking poles are planted behind you in order to propel you along. This engages the upper body and makes you feel lighter on your feet! Based on solid research Nordic Walking has been show to provide many health and fitness benefits. This unique and increasingly popular form of exercise has many advantages, both for healthy and fit individuals who want to increase their workouts and gain additional cardiovascular benefits as well as for those with medical conditions that restrict them from jogging or running.

Physical benefits

Other benefits

In order to gain maximum benefit from Nordic Walking it is essential that you learn the correct technique from a qualified Nordic Walking Instructor.

How do I get started?

Nordic Walking UK has devised a unique structured teaching programme of four one hour sessions that will help you to master the basics and be able to competently Nordic Walk on your own or join into group walks all over the UK. The course will help you to understand your current level of fitness and empower you to get out and get the results you want from Nordic Walking!

Give it a try!

If you want to find out more BEFORE committing to a technique course why not try a FREE 45 minute taster session. This will give you an insight into how the poles can propel you along and work the whole body. You will also understand why it is important to learn the technique properly in order to get maximum benefit.

Once the technique course has been completed you will be issued with the NWUK Competence card. This proves that you have reached the standard to be able to join in a walk without further tuition, either in your local area on in any other area of the UK with participating instructors.
